Power words and Let’s Fighting, Love!!

Ok, so even with the whole economic crisis thing, the video game industry is still booming and gaining money. They’re still producing and releasing games and we’re still buying them. There are a few PSP and DS games I’m really, really waiting on to be released (in English) in the next few months and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one!

I’ll cover the one DS game first, just because I think that idea of it is pure genius! Scribblenauts is a unique puzzle game where you control a boy named Maxwell on his quest to collect items called ‘Starites’ (which look like stars, go figure). While the game doesn’t look that impressive, the game play will simply astound you. It’s all based on the player being able to ‘summon’ objects by writing the objects name. So if you want a table, write table and you got it. Ladder? That’s cool. How about the Kraken?! Astronaut, anyone? What about a flame-thrower? You can summon them and use them. I want this puzzle game simply because of the mechanics and the original idea of it. First thing I’m going to try to summon is zombie. I don’t know how I’ll use it, but it’ll be awesome.

Now for the two PSP games. I’m kind of in a fighting-game phase at the moment. I missed out on Soul Calibur IV because I don’t have a PS3 or XboX 360, but after some research I found out Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny was a new and upcoming game for PSP! Huzzah! While Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny has features of Soul Calibur IV is also not a port of the game. The Project Soul team has made the game with improvements and apparently rearranged music and new lighting effects. Of course the Star Wars characters are going to be taken out, but a new guest character will appear – Kratos – from the God of War game series! There is also a new shifty looking character named Dampierre to be added.

The other fighting game I’m waiting for is Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Yeah ok, I am a Final Fantasy fan and yes that’s what got my attention the first time it was mentioned, BUT after I looked into it I got kind of interested by the fact that they were doing a crossover fighting game, not an RPG. It looks pretty flashy and it doesn’t look like Squaresoft skimped out on the full motion cut scenes or anything. It also has it’s own storyline, which involves two Gods summoning warriors (the main FF characters) to battle against each other. Each character also has their own storyline as well. I can’t wait to see what the interactions between characters are like!

So yes, these are the games I’m really waiting for. There are others of course, but these are the ones I want to play now while I still have time before my uni semester gets really crazy!
