Playstation Vita: Australian Release February 2012

My long commutes began very late into the PSP lifetime and thought I would hold-out till the 3DS. Well the 3DS hasn’t quite tipped me over just yet, and the announcement of the Vita had me quite excited beyond just the E3 presentation. Graphically it’s looking quite impressive and I need only demo the unit out for myself to confirm my purchase.

Having said all that you can read the press release sent out today, detailing release date and price-point:

Sydney, October 19, 2011 – Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand confirmed today that PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) will launch on 23rd February, 2012. This follows an announcement made by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today confirming that PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) will launch throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia from 22nd February, 2012. Available in Europe from €249.99 (RRP), Australia from AUD $349.95 (RRP) and New Zealand from NZD $449.95 (RRP)for the Wi-Fi model, the 3G/Wi-Fi model will retail for €299.99 (RRP), AUD $449.95 (RRP) and NZD $549.95, respectively. PS Vita will offer uncompromised portable gaming experiences, anytime, and anywhere.

He continued, “We are incredibly excited about the upcoming launch of PlayStation Vita.”

Leveraging PlayStation?s legacy of delivering deep and immersive gaming experiences, the PS Vita system will bring to consumers new ways to play through a unique feature set such as a stunning OLED front touch screen and rear touch pad, dual analog sticks, motion sensors, and dual cameras. With more than 80 games currently in production from first and third party studios including “LittleBigPlanet,” “Wipeout 2048,” “Resistance: Burning Skies™,” “Uncharted Golden Abyss™,” Ubisoft?s “Assassin?s Creed,” EA Sports? “FIFA”, Activision?s„Call of Duty?, and many more, the PS Vita is poised to deliver gameplay experiences unmatched by any handheld or mobile device on the market.
