Gameolio Podcast Ep 15: Reach Out

Just a comment on the FPS genre. I think its mainly based on personal preference of all FPS feeling the same.

For myself I can say the same thing when it comes to racing games, the Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, Burnout,etc. For me, personally they all feel the same,race around a track and repeat, why? I’m just not too keen on that particular genre. But then comes along one or 2 games in that genre I may like (twisted metal-does that count or is that like a FPS with cars?)

Some FPS that I think differ from your battlefield, medal of honor, halo, call of duty that feel different than your standard FPS are Borderlands, Bioshock, Fallout 3(which can be played in 3rd person aswell) All 3 of these change the way a standard FPS feels. But again, it may all come down to personal preference. If I don’t like raw sardines because its a personal preference of taste, then changing the packaging and calling them Tasty Bits aren’t gonna change the fact that I don’t like sardines.

In regards to Final Fantasy 13, all my friends who have played it also said that they didn’t like it, wasn’t great, annoying character,etc. These aren’t the hardcore Final Fantasy fans, but standard RPG players. So I don’t think you are alone in not liking FF13.

Also playing any game online with a group of friends as always made even the most mediocre game 10 times funner(its a word-like run-ner and but-ter and sun-burn:))

I look forward to some L4D2, just have to find the time to coincide when we are both awake seeing as we are 13 hrs apart.

Sean: Yeah, unfortunately for a lot of us gamers the price is extraordinarily high compared to other countries. Ebay and online marketplaces do help us get a decent deal here and there and legitimately too.
